We are once again hitting the road to explore the behind the scenes at this great facility. Please note this is a Saturday.
What goes on behind the scenes in a 6,000-seat theater to make sure that everyone enjoys the experience. The technical and facilities management staff of Elliott Hall are going to take us on a behind the scenes tour of the building. We will visit the fly space, trap space, lighting and sound booth as well as have a demonstration on how the music and lights are managed so that they are synchronized with the performance (a really must have).
Dressing rooms, backstage and wing space will all be shown to us. The ability of bringing it all together into a performance is a feat in scheduling and project management. The technology required today to put on a performance has changed in the past decade. The use of LEDS lights lends itself to the ability to do things only previously dreamed about and at the same time provide an energy efficient way to light and even change colors with a touch on a monitoring screen.
Elliot Hall of Music has a reputation for having great sound. We are going to learn what makes that possible when the building was built in 1940. The know how the was incorporated into the construction will be discussed.
The tour will highlight electrical changes since it was built, changes in technology and how the building has been renovated to accommodate these new systems.
In addition, as with all large assembly spaces the safety of those attending is paramount, especially in today’s world of increased threats. Some of the safety measures being taken will be discussed such as the evacuation plan.
The tour will be conducted by the very knowledgeable facilities management staff of the Elliott Hall of Music to include Stephen Hall and Dan Metro, both long time staff members. In the event our group is extra-large additional personal may be asked to assist with the tours.
